Ford Focus Stolen in MA Recovered in NYC, NYPD Officers Arrest 2 Suspects

On June 10, 2012, the owners of a 2007 Ford Focus contacted the Lowell Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from outside their residence in Lowell, Massachusetts. The Lowell Police Department verified the theft and entered the Ford’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from New York City Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Ford on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to an area in the Harlem Section of Manhattan.

While tracking the stolen Ford in the area of Lenox Avenue, officers spotted the vehicle near the intersection of West 127^th Street with two suspects inside. The officers conducted a felony stop, and after a brief investigation, they placed the two suspects under arrest at the scene for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Pills, marijuana and cocaine were also recovered at the recovery scene. The suspects were transported from the scene for processing, and the vehicle was towed for impound and safekeeping until the Lowell Police Department could notify the owners of its recovery. The vehicle was not damaged.
