Recovery of Stolen LoJack-Equipped Suzuki Motorcycle Enables Recovery of 2nd Stolen Bike

On April 11, 2012 the owner of a 2011 Suzuki GSX-R750 motorcycle reported it stolen from the 3000 block of Park Center Drive in Alexandria, Virginia. An officer with the Alexandria Police Department responded to the scene and, after conducting a preliminary investigation, obtained all of the necessary information, including the Suzuki’s vehicle identification number. The officer then had this information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases – a routine police action that automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, officers from the Prince Georges (MD) County Police Department received the Suzuki’s silent LoJack homing signal on their patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. The directional and audible LoJack signal led the officers to the 4000 block of 28th Avenue in Prince Georges County, Maryland. At that location, they observed the stolen 2011 Suzuki, along with another stolen motorcycle, a 2009 Yamaha R-6. The stolen Yamaha had also been reported stolen from Alexandria, VA, and was not LoJack-equipped. Both motorcycles were recovered and returned to their respective owners.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Suzuki motorcycle at the new buyer’s request in March 2012.
