Harley Davidson Motorcycle Stolen in TX, Recovered in Residential Garage, Suspect Identified

In the early morning hours of April 9, 2012, the owner of a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle reported the theft of the bike to the DeSoto Police Department.
DeSoto Police completed the stolen vehicle report and had the Harley’s information entered into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with the police is both seamless and instantaneous.
A few hours later, officers with the Dallas Police Department picked up the Harley’s silent LoJack signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. Following the computer’s directional and signal strength cues, the officers tracked the stolen motorcycle to a house in the 500 block of Seaside. The officers were able to determine that the Harley was inside the attached garage; they quickly obtained a warrant and executed a search of the garage, where they recovered the motorcycle. No one was present at the house when the search warrant was executed, but the officers were able to identify a suspect. This remains an ongoing investigation.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Harley Davidson at the previous owner’s request on April 3, 2007.
