Nissan Versa Stolen and Quickly Recovered in Hollywood FL by Police Using LoJack

On Monday morning, March 5, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Nissan Versa 4-door sedan contacted the Hollywood Police Department to report the vehicle stolen.
Upon arrival at the scene, the responding officer met with the owner of the Nissan, who stated that sometime during the night, the vehicle was stolen from where it was parked. The officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the federal and state crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Versa.
Within minutes of activation, a Hollywood Police Department officer received the silent LoJack radio signal from the stolen Nissan’s LoJack unit, and began tracking it by following the directional and signal strength cues on his patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. Shortly thereafter, the officer, along with backup, located the sedan, abandoned in a parking lot in the 2000 block of Dewey Street. The vehicle was recovered, released to the owner at the scene, and removed from the police crime computer systems.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Nissan Versa on August 3, 2009, and has been protecting it ever since.
