Hollywood and Hallandale Beach Officers Track and Recover Stolen Nissan Sentra

On Tuesday, February 14, 2012, the owner of a 2002 Nissan Sentra 4-door sedan contacted the Hollywood Police Department to report the sedan stolen.

Upon arrival at the scene, the responding officer met with the owner of the Sentra, who stated that sometime between 7:15pm and 9:30pm on Monday night, the vehicle was stolen from where they owner had parked it. The officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the federal and state crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan Sentra.

Later that afternoon, officers with the Hallandale Beach Police Department and Hollywood Police Department simultaneously received the silent LoJack radio signal from the stolen Nissan’s LoJack unit. Following the directional and signal strength cues on their patrol cars’ LoJack Police Tracking Computer, the officers both tracked the stolen Nissan sedan. The Hollywood Police Department officer, along with backup, located the Nissan near North 62nd Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. The vehicle was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from the police crime computer systems.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Police Recovery System was installed in this Nissan Sentra on October 31, 2007, and has been protecting it ever since.
