Kawasaki Motorcycle Stolen in Virginia Recovered Minutes After Theft Report

On the morning of March 12, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle contacted the Virginia Beach Police Department to report the bike stolen from Pleasant Valley Road. A Virginia Beach officer responded to the scene, obtained the motorcycle’s information, and had the information entered into the state and federal crime computer systems. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement agents had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, as LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Minutes later, an officer with the Chesapeake Police Department received the Kawasaki’s silent LoJack homing signal with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol unit. Following the cues from the tracking computer, the officers tracked the motorcycle to Cedar Court in Chesapeake, Virginia. There, the officers located the bike in the parking lot of an apartment complex, concealed beneath a tarp. After removing the tarp to confirm that it was the stolen motorcycle, the officers recovered the bike and returned it to the owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Kawasaki motorcycle at the owner’s request in February 2007.
