Suzuki Motorcycle and Electronics Stolen During Commercial Burglary Recovered at Deltona Residence, 1 Arrest

On the morning of February 24, 2012, the owner of an electronics company in Orlando arrived at his shop and discovered it had been burglarized. A 2005 Suzuki GSXR-750 which had been stored inside the location was missing, along with a number of digital cameras and laptop computers. The owner immediately contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to report the theft.
The responding deputy completed a stolen vehicle report and had the Suzuki’s information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the motorcycle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Within hours, a detective with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Auto Theft Unit picked up the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in his department vehicle. Using the directional and signal strength indicators on his tracking unit, he determined that the signal was emanating from an attached garage at a private residence in Deltona, FL. After receiving consent to search from the owner of the home, he entered the garage and located both the Suzuki stolen from the electronics company and a second stolen Suzuki. Stolen property – including the laptops and digital cameras – were recovered inside of the residence. Police arrested one suspect at the scene, and information obtained during the subsequent investigation could lead to additional arrests and recovery of other stolen vehicles.
The Suzuki GSXR-1300 was recovered with minimal damage and returned to the very happy owner.
