Tulsa Police Officers Recover Stolen Land Rover Minutes After Theft is Reported, Thanks to LoJack

On March 11, 2012, the owner of a 2004 Land Rover discovered that his vehicle had been stolen and contacted the Tulsa Police Department to report the theft. After gathering a complete description of the vehicle and the theft, Tulsa officers had this information entered into the state and federal crime databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owner nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network, because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Just eight minutes after later, officers with the Tulsa Police Department’s Gilcrease Division began picking up the silent homing signal from the stolen Land Rover on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicle. After obtaining a complete description of the stolen vehicle, the officers followed the directional and signal strength cues on the computer to track the Land Rover to the area of 4th and Elgin, near downtown Tulsa. There, the officers quickly located the unoccupied stolen vehicle. They subsequently recovered the stolen Land Rover, and returned it to the grateful owner.
