Acura TL Stolen in Palm Beach Home Burglary — Vehicle Recovered in Good Condition, 2 Suspects Later Arrested

According to sources, on Friday, December 30, 2012, the caretaker who was watching the home of the owner of a 2005 Acura TL 4-door sedan contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to report that the owner’s house had been burglarized. Upon arrival home from his vacation on January 4, the owner made contact again with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office again to report his vehicle stolen. The responding officer met with the owner and together they compiled the theft report. The officer completed the stolen vehicle report and had the Acura’s information entered into the federal and state crime computer databases. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Acura TL.
Late that afternoon, a captain with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office received the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura’s LoJack unit on their patrol car’s LoJack Police Tracking Computer. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the tracking computer, the captain, along with backup, located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 5000 block of West Atlantic Boulevard. The vehicle was recovered in good condition, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and processing for evidence of the crime, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Acura TL 4-door sedan on December 14, 2004, and has been protecting it ever since. It should be noted that through good police work and canvassing the area of the burglary, two suspects involved in the burglary were located and arrested for the crimes that were committed.
