Suzuki Motorcycle Stolen in NC Recovered in SC, Two Suspects Arrested

On the afternoon of February 17, 2012, the owner of a 2008 Suzuki GSZR 600 reported his motorcycle stolen to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina Police Department.
After gathering all of the pertinent information, Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police entered the Suzuki’s information into the state and federal crime computer databases. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed within the Suzuki, and prompted the unit to begin emitting a silent radio signal that can be tracked by law enforcement agents.
A short while later, a York County Sheriff’s Officer detected the LoJack signal from the stolen Suzuki on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol car. Following the computer’s directional and signal strength cues, the officer tracked the signal into the town of Rock Hill in South Carolina. The officer then radioed the Rock Hill Police Department for assistance. Together, the officers followed the LoJack signal to a garage in the back yard of a residence. The officers entered the garage and found the stolen Suzuki, intact and undamaged. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
