On the morning of January 22, 2012, the owners of a 2008 Nissan Altima discovered their vehicle missing and immediately contacted the Clifton Police Department to repor the theft.

The reporting officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Nissan’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Nissan and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.

Less than two hours later, officers from the East Rutherford Police Department began to receive the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the computer’s cues, the officers tracked and quickly located the vehicle. The East Rutherford officers contacted the Clifton Police to report the recovery.

The LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed at Cox Nissan, Bronx, NY on September 28, 2007.
