On January 10, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Honda CRV SUV contacted the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office to report the vehicle stolen — by someone known to the owner — from the 15400 block of South Union Milles Road near Mulino.

The reporting officer responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Honda’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.

Twenty five minutes later, Portland Police officers received the silent signal transmitting from the stolen Honda SUV on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers in their patrol cars. Following the audio and visual cues on the LoJack computer display, officers located the vehicle at SE Powell Boulevard and SE 122nd Avenue.  Two people in the car were placed under arrest.  The undamaged vehicle was returned to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda CRV in September 2009. The owner is grateful that he made the decision to equip his new CRV wtih LoJack to protect his investment.
