Stolen Honda Motorcycle Abandoned by Thief in San Antonio

When the owner of a 2005 Honda CBR600 motorcycle discovered that the bike had been stolen from his apartment on January 18, 2012, he immediately filed a theft report with the San Antonio Police Department. After all the pertinent information was gathered, San Antonio Police entered the vehicle’s information into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to cause the activation of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
Later that day, auto theft task force officers from the San Antonio Police Department received the silent homing signals from the stolen vehicle on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol cars. The officers then queried the LoJack “Reply Code” appearing on the PTC display screens with the police stolen vehicle computer system and received confirmation that the signals were coming from the stolen Honda motorcycle, and obtained a description of the stolen bike. Following the directional cues from the PTC, the officers quickly located the motorcycle abandoned in a large open pasture. It appeared the motorcycle ran out of fuel, and the thieves just left the motorcycle lying on its side. Officers summoned the owner to the location and released the motorcycle into his custody.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda motoryclce at the original owner’s request in May 2005.
