Pontiac GTO Stolen and Recovered in Baltimore City, Undamaged, Within an Hour

On the morning of January 4, 2012, the owner of a 2004 Pontiac GTO 2-door contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from the 5000 Block Federal Street in Baltimore City, Maryland.
A Baltimore City officer responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Pontiac’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Pontiac and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
Minutes later, detectives assigned to the Regional Auto Theft Team received the silent LoJack homing signal on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible signal from the PTC, detectives tracked the vehicle to the 5800 block of Pulaski Highway in Baltimore City, where they located the Pontiac, parked and unoccupied.
The vehicle was located within one hour of the theft report and returned undamaged to the owner as a result of the LoJack. The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Pontiac at the new car buyer’s request in February 2004.
