Chevrolet Pickup Stolen at Gunpoint; 3 Suspects Identified, Parts to Other Stolen Cars Found

On the afternoon of January 2, 2012, the owern of a 2005 Chevrolet pickup was robbed of his vehicle at gunpoint. The victim immediately contacted the Dallas Poilice Department to report the crime.
Dallas Police responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen pickup’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.
Sixteen minutes later, Dallas Police Officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen pickup on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their vehicle. Following the computer cues, the officers tracked the stolen vehicle to the 7500 block of Lovett, where they found it parked in front of a house. Officers obtained consent to search the house, and in the bedroom found parts to two stolen Ford pickups. Three suspects have been identified and arrest warrants are pending.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet pickup at the owner’s request on May 14, 2005.
