On the morning of January 5, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Suzuki GSZR 1300 reported her motorcycle stolen to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

Dorchester County officers responded to the scene, prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Suzuki’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Suzuki and initiated the tracking of the motorcycle.

A little while later, a Greenville County Sheriff’s Officer detected the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Suzuki on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the signal to the parking lot of an apartment complex on the edge of town, where he located the Suzuki. The motorcycle was recovered undamaged and in good shape. This recovery was approximately 250 miles from the theft location.
