LoJack Aids in Recovery of Jaguar Stolen in Philadelphia

In the late evening hours of Wednesday January 42012, the owner of a 1997 Jaguar XK8 discovered the vehicle stolen from North 54th Street in West Philadelphia.      

 

The complainant called 911 and Philadelphia Police Radio dispatched a 19th District Officer to investigate the incident. The officer arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and surveyed the area for the subject vehicle. When the vehicle could not be located, the assigned officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the stolen Jaguar’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Jaguar and initiated the tracking of the vehicle.  

 

Early the next morning, Philadelphia Police 25th District Officers assigned patrol vehicles equipped with LoJack Tracking Computers, began to receive the silent signal transmitting from the LoJack in the stolen Jaguar on the LoJack Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the computer cues, the officers tracked the signal to the area of 400 West Erie Avenue, where they located the parked vehicle.  The Officers cautiously approached the subject vehicle and determined that the vehicle was unoccupied. The Jaguar was confiscated for safekeeping and the owner was notified that the vehicle had been recovered.
