The owners of a 2006 BMW X5 reported their vehicle stolen to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The Metro Nashville PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

While on routine patrol, an officer with the Metro Nashville PD began receiving the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the audible and directional signal the officer tracked the BMW to a residential district in Nashville. The BMW was located unoccupied parked at an apartment complex.

The undamaged BMW was impounded for safe keeping until it can be returned to the owner.

The follow up investigation is being conducted by the Metro Nashville PD Auto Theft Division.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 BMW X5 in December 2006 in Florida.
