The owner of a 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6 called the Albuquerque Police Department to report the motorcycle was stolen. The owner advised the Yamaha was stolen from the area of Wyoming and Moon. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Yamaha.

Shortly after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque PD and New Mexico State Police and deputies with the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Yamaha with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The Yamaha was tracked to a residential neighborhood in the area of Blake and Unser.

Officers observed the Yamaha parked alongside of a residence behind a locked gate. Albuquerque PD Auto Theft Unit Detectives arrived on scene and were able to make contact with the occupant inside of the residence. The Yamaha was subsequently recovered from the scene and will be released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Yamaha YZF-R6 in April 2007 at North County’s House of Motorcycles in Vista, California.
