The renters of a 2016 Bobcat T740 called the Maywood Police Department to report the Bobcat compact track loader model T740 they had been renting was missing from a job site at 1st Ave and Main Street in Maywood. The Maywood PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Bobcat.

Minutes after the Bobcat was activated a Chicago Police Department squad car from the Ogden District equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent and directional signal being broadcast from the stolen Bobcat on Chicago’s lower west side. The Bobcat was located in a lot on the 1300 block of South Troop Ave in Chicago’s Douglas Park neighborhood. The identification of the Bobcat had been attempted to be defeated by removing stickers from the rental company and the removal of the Bobcat’s Product Identification Number. The Chicago PD recovered the Bobcat T740 and the owners were contacted who arrived to recover their piece of construction equipment. Police investigation into this theft continues.

Due to LoJack the owner of this 2016 Bobcat T740 had his equipment recovered minutes after it was entered as stolen. The Bobcat was recovered before it could be damaged or have pieces removed devaluing it.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Bobcat T740 at a commercial rental location in September 2016.
