The renter of a 2017 Takeuchi mini excavator contacted the Fort Worth Police Department to report that a mini excavator was stolen. The renter left the mini excavator at his job site overnight and when he returned the next morning found it missing.

The Fort Worth PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Takeuchi mini excavator.

Later, detectives from the Tri County Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen mini excavator with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the stolen mini excavator to 3700 block of Anglin Rd in Fort Worth and observed it parked in the backyard of a house. Detectives contacted the homeowner, who stated that his son bought the mini excavator two days ago. The son was not at the house. This is an ongoing investigation. The mini excavator was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Takeuchi mini excavator in May 2017 via Commercial Sales.
